Martin Garrix Says Avicii’s Death Has Brought DJs Closer Together

Avicii’s death in 2018 was a shock to everyone. The suddenness of it all, the lack of any signs took everyone’s collective breath away in one swift moment — it was also a wake up call and a rallying cry for much of the music industry.

Since Avicii’s death, many DJs have been more open about cancelling shows or just taking time off to focus on mental health, or health in general. Speaking with Dutch publication Het Parool, Martin Garrix says it brought the DJ community closer together.

“It was weird what happened to him, but his death did trigger something in the scene,” he said. “There is much more awareness that we DJs are just people.”

The aftermath of Avicii’s death, as mentioned before, is plain to see. Even in other genres of dance music, Cookie Monsta, Kayzo, Flosstradamus and more are being wary of their mental state and are taking time to let their bodies and minds recover.

Read Martin’s full quote about Avicii below.

“I was really devastated by his death. I was a good friend of Tim and I often toured with him. That life was not for him, I saw that. His decision to stop concerts must have been difficult, but it was wise. We talked a little less because of that, but I thought he was fine. It was weird what happened to him, but his death did trigger something in the scene. There is much more awareness that we DJs are just

Madeon Reveals New Song From Forthcoming Album, “Be Fine”

The Good Faith roll out continues today with Madeon’s new single, “Be Fine.” Further distancing himself from early singles like “The City” and “Finale” and embracing his new style first featured on Adventure, Madeon presents a softer, sultry side to his music.

“Be Fine” is impossibly easy to listen to over and over again. I’ve probably had it on repeat for 30 or more minutes while writing this review. It’s effortless. Madeon’s voice glides over the production with the deftness of a Cirque du Soleil performer, and with the backing choir, this is truly an uplifting listening experience.

Madeon says of the track, “It’s a song that I wrote about joy, but sometimes joy is dangerous. Sometimes joy comes from the wrong place and being fine can mean different things. That I can understand from my own experience and mental health challenges. If but whatever you hear when you listen to it is fine too. If you listen to it and see it as a celebration of joy, that’s great, that’s what I want you to hear too, and if you listen to it and hear something else that’s very valued.”

Listen to “Be Fine” below. The Good Faith Live tour will kick off on October 30, more info HERE.

Madeon – Be Fine [Lyrics]

Today the world is gonna do me right
The sun is rising in my head
Until I just cannot believe my eyes
And you tell me it’s another phase
Does it matter if

Shaky Beats Suddenly Announces It Will Not Return In 2020

Shaky Beats Music Festival, held annually in Atlanta, GA, has just suddenly announced it will not return in 2020.

The EDM off-shoot of sister festival Shaky Knees began in 2016 with headlining sets from Major Lazer, Odesza, and Big Gigantic, making it a quick favorite among locals, especially in the absence of TomorrowWorld, which had its final year the year prior.

No reason was given for the decision as the festival thanked fans who “attended, celebrated, and danced” over the years. It’s unclear if the festival is just taking a break in 2020 or is being shelved permanently. Your EDM has reached out to representatives for Shaky Beats for comment.

See the official announcement below.

Shaky Beats Music Festival will not return in 2020. We would like to thank all of the fans who attended, celebrated, and danced with us at Shaky Beats over the last few years. 💗

Cray Releases Debut EP “seasons change and so do i”

After years of playing shows and putting out music, CRAY today has finally released her debut EP, seasons change and so do i. It’s been a long year for the Vancouver-born/LA-based artist already, both personally and professionally. Through all of the trials and tribulations, she’s come out with this 7-track, deeply personal expression of herself and it shows.

When asked about the inspiration behind the EP, CRAY shared, “This EP was written over a year and half period. The first half of the EP was written when I was in a relationship and was struggling with being okay and happy and the end half I wrote when the relationship ended. It’s very much like a diary and that’s why the artwork is hand made and the songs have dates next to them to explain the journey of when I wrote them.”

She adds, “This EP is almost a story of falling out of love with someone and back into love with yourself. It’s angry, sad, hopeful and powerful. My inspiration for this is directly from my experiences and my writing, each song is personal and true to me and the writing process was emotional for me but very therapeutic as well.”

Listen to seasons change and so do i below.

In addition to upcoming festival performances, Cray will be performing intimate seasons change and so do i showcases in Los Angeles and New York City.

Eric Prydz Teases Eight Unreleased Tracks In Return Of EPIC Radio

Eric Prydz brought back his EPIC Radio on Beats 1 with a stellar, hour-long mix filled with new and old music. Though the mix only contained twelve tracks, an astonishing two thirds of that was unreleased music.

Google Unveils Pixel 4 & Pixel 4 XL with Face Unlock & Amazing Photo/Video Features

Google Unveils Pixel 4 & Pixel 4 XL with Face Unlock & Amazing Photo/Video Features

Google has unveiled the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL — undoubtedly the company’s most powerful smartphone devices to date.

During the Pixel 4 live event today, the details of the upcoming phones were revealed. Although, much of this could be seen coming from a mile away due to several leaks leading up to the launch.

The Pixel 4 and XL models look strikingly similar to the latest iPhone designs from Apple. The features are similar too, including the all-new Face Unlock inspired by Apple’s Face ID technology — but faster.

The most exciting part about the Pixel 4 and XL model has to be the camera and video capabilities. One main camera at 12.2 megapixels, the tele with 16 megapixels, and video with up to 1080p at 30, 60, or 120 fps. A new feature called “Night Sight” captures beautiful photos in the dark. It appears that rather than trying to compete with Apple and Samsung on the wide angle front, Pixel is beefing up their telephoto and night vision capabilities instead.

for preorder today and begin shipping on October 24th. The price tag starts at $799.
