This #worldmentalhealthday I’m reflecting on how my experiences of the WORLD helped re-wire my brain and body 🧠…
—————-
• learning to meditate with a Buddhist monk in Chiang Mai
• living a basic life in the jungle in Laos
• eating healing foods across all of Asia
• learning to speak Spanish in South America
• spending lots of time outdoors and ‘earthing’ myself on the beach
• volunteering ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• not being sedentary for days on end
• understanding how groups of people lived at a different time (the Incas and the Myans)
• learning to surf and being in the sea a lot in Costa Rica ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• living in the actual paradise that is El Nido
• improving lung capacity at high altitudes (Peru)
• reading ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀
• practicing gratitude ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• learning to dance the tango and salsa in Brazil and Argentina ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
• listening to music everywhere (#musictherapy) ⠀
• basically all the creative arts in every country
• learning from everyone I met and gaining perspective from them
• & of course all the doggies everywhere 🐶 ———————
On my next trip I would be interested in trying a silent retreat and maybe even a digital detox ;)! ———————
