Black Caviar Delivers Funky Reimagination Of Charlie's Angels Theme For New Movie

Black Caviar Delivers Funky Reimagination Of Charlie’s Angels Theme For New Movie

The new Charlie’s Angels film starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska releases November 15, but fans will be able to listen to the film’s original motion picture soundtrack two weeks early. The full soundtrack is now available on Spotify, but we want to direct your attention to the final track on the album, an absolutely juicy remix of the film’s theme song by Black Caviar.

It’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t know the theme from the show/films, even if they’ve never seen either of them. The horns, the melody… it’s absolutely iconic. And what Black Caviar has done with it shows they know exactly what it needed.

The melody is kept well intact while it’s given a groovy, funky overtone thanks to synth work and a few extra drums. But boy are those horns as salient as ever! And thank god, too, as they give the remix a huge dose of nostalgia.

Check out Black Caviar’s remix below, and buy/stream the Charlie’s Angels Soundtrack here.

Axwell Drops Fiery New Remix For Halsey’s “Graveyard”

Axwell brings a different kind of Halloween vibe this year with his new remix of “Graveyard” by Halsey.

This combo isn’t a total surprise, but it’s still somewhat unexpected. Axwell teased an unnamed remix a little over a week ago and dropped this one on fans today. Not only are Halsey’s vocals pitched down for a bit of a darker vibe, the entire vibe of the song is thoroughly reimagined.

The original “Graveyard” was as close to a singer/songwriter masterclass as you get, with acoustic guitar, soft electronic pads, and Halsey’s enchanting vocals. As soon as Axwell got his hands on it, the electronic aspect was pushed to its limits with the Swedish house star at the helm. Vocals were chopped and screwed and the quaint songwriting and composition was replaced with a dirty bassline fit for dark clubs at 3am.

Check out the remix below, and catch Halsey on tour here.

1788-L Transforms The Classic "Halloween" Theme Into A Terrifying Banger

1788-L Transforms The Classic “Halloween” Theme Into A Terrifying Banger

Halloween is officially here, and that means loads of artists are dropping new music. However, right now, we turn our attention to the mysterious 1788-L who’s just unleashed a terrifying new remix of the classic “Halloween” theme.

Be warned, this song is not for the faint of heart, nor the light of foot. This ferociously off-kilter remix comes at your from a wild assortment of angles, hitting hard and fast, backing away, and coming in again swiftly for the kill. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who’s able to keep their rhythm when this one drops, but sure enough you’ll find plenty who are throwing their necks out.

Check out the remix below.

Louis The Child Put Out Divisive Remix Of Skrillex’s “Midnight Hour”

Skrillex teamed up with Boys Noize and Ty Dolla $ign to drop “Midnight Hour” earlier this year, a bouncy club track with lots of flavor and personality. Taking more influence from “Would You Ever” than Show Tracks, it found itself more at home in a softer set than one attuned to headbanging.

Now, Louis The Child have gotten their hands on the single and offer up a remix that has fans of both theirs and Skrillex quite divided.

The intro is as sultry and smooth as the original, but it’s the drop that is causing controversy. The duo replaces the pounding drums with what one SoundCloud commenter described as a 4th grader learning to play the recorder. The tempo is slower, giving it a less club-ready vibe, as if it was aiming for a more emotional impact. But the lead synth is far too distracting to let that happen.

That being said, many fans are extremely happy with the remix, calling it a “banger,” “crazy good,” among other compliments. On the other hand, a lot of fans are asking what happened. At the end of the day, we can’t fault LTC from trying something new; we just wonder if they might have jumped the shark a bit.

Listen below and make a decision for yourself!

Josh Cassidy Flips RL Grime's Edit Of TNGHT's "Acrylics" For A Wild Live Set Banger [Free Download]

Josh Cassidy Flips RL Grime’s Edit Of TNGHT’s “Acrylics” For A Wild Live Set Banger [Free Download]

I can generally break down EDM tracks into two categories: those that sound better in live settings, and those that I’d generally only listen to at home. Of course there’s some overlap between the two, as well. But for the purpose of being a music critic, the former category doesn’t typically get much love from me — unless it’s that good.

Enter Josh Cassidy with a massive flip of RL Grime’s edit of TNGHT’s “Acrylics.” As much of a mouthful as that is, this flip is one that will surely have people at any show wondering what the hell is happening. The intense bass and super high-pitched synths are guaranteed to have a positive effect on the crowd. But, as I said before, just sitting at home in my desk chair with a glass of water at my side, it doesn’t feel like the right setting.

That’s good news, actually, since Excision, G-Rex, and more have already been playing out his songs live in their sets. Check out Cassidy’s flip below to see if it’s right for your set and download here.

Petit Biscuit Unveils Glorious Remix Of Flume's "Rushing Back" with Vera Blue

Petit Biscuit Unveils Glorious Remix Of Flume’s “Rushing Back” with Vera Blue

Flume has been pushing his latest single, “Rushing Back,” hard. After putting out a live video from Red Rocks followed by an acoustic rendition from Vera Blue, he’s just called upon Petit Biscuit for the first official remix. And honestly, who better?

A lot of Vera Blue’s intensity is lost in Petit Biscuit’s remix, but the composition as a whole becomes more widely accessible to casual listeners who might not be used to Flume’s frenetic production style.

Speaking on the new release, 19-year-old Petit Biscuit shared, “Ever since I was 12 years old, Flume has inspired me to innovate in everything I make. He is an artist that is constantly pushing the limits of our genre forward. It’s an honour to be able to bring my signature sound to one of his tracks, lending it somewhat of a dreamy quality.”

Zeds Dead's Seminal "Eyes On Fire" Remix Turns 10 Years Old Today

Zeds Dead’s Seminal “Eyes On Fire” Remix Turns 10 Years Old Today

Ten years ago, I was but a fledgling headbanger. I’d maybe heard Mt Eden’s “Sierra Leone,” perhaps “Jehova,” and… Zeds Dead’s “Eyes On Fire” remix.

This was also back in the early days of UKF, the platform at least partly responsible for the popularity of artists like Flux Pavilion, Modestep, Nero, and Knife Party. In fact, half of UKF’s top 10 most watched videos feature Flux Pavilion. But, that’s beside the point — today, we’re here to talk about the channel’s #1 video of all time.

Since 2009, Zeds Dead have put out a number of EPs, two albums, their own record label, back-to-back nights at Red Rocks, innumerable headline tours, and more. They’re verified legends. But still, their legacy can be easily traced back to this one… single… remix.

It’s a wonder what might have become of Zeds Dead had UKF not existed. Let’s be thankful we don’t ever have to find out. Listen to “Eyes On Fire” below.

Your EDM Premiere: Calyx & Teebee Put a Dark Spin on Legion & Logam's 'House of Cards' [ProgRAM]

Your EDM Premiere: Calyx & Teebee Put a Dark Spin on Legion & Logam’s ‘House of Cards’ [ProgRAM]

Tracks from the upcoming Program 100 Sampler are beginning to leak from the label to tease the first part of the release, out this Friday, October 25. The first part of the sampler will feature lots of remixes and VIPs and new exclusive tracks whose numbers are two big to name. Your EDM has the exclusive premiere of Calyx & Teebee’s fiery remix of “House of Cards” by Legion & Logam.

The original “House of Cards” featuring Adam Wright is a steppy, melodic and dreamy track with Legion & Logam’s characteristic flare for balancing the emotive and the danceable. There is a bit of a dark ambient current running through the track, however, so when Calyx & Teebee got a hold of the stems it seems they took that bit and ran with it, adding some glitchy synths and changing up the snare sequence.

The cool thing with the new remix is that despite the dark/techy feel being ramped up, or perhaps because of it, the soulful vocals by Adam Wright are actually highlighted and mix in with the track in a totally different way. The Calyx & Teebee remix is both deeper and more minimal, techier and still soulful as compared to the original, showcasing both their own mastery of the remix and Legion & Logam’s stellar stems.

The first part of the Program 100 Sampler will be out on Friday, 10/25 and will feature tracks from the likes of Glitch City & Nightshift, Eazy & Fascad. Keep an
