It seems as though all of our favorite producers are bringing out their best before the close of the decade. 2019 has seen revivals from Dog Blood, Flume, Madeon, Cashmere Cat, and Wave Racer, with Mura Masa being the latest artist to make a comeback. The London-bred producer soared to new heights in 2017 following the release of his groundbreaking debut self-titled album, which featured A$AP Rocky, Charli XCX, and Desiigner. Since then, fans have patiently awaited his sophomore project and today shows the first sign of what’s to come.
Enlisting lo-fi singer-songwriter Clairo, “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again” is an ambitious blend of luscious indie verses and grungy-electronic choruses. Brilliantly crafted and ahead of its time, “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again” is unlike anything we’ve heard recently, yet still carries that Mura Masa stamp. Flush with wavy guitar melodies and emotional lyricism, Mura Masa and Clairo’s magnetic collaboration is instantly addictive and deserving of being played on repeat. Stream Mura Masa and Clairo’s infectious new single “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again” below.
This is the beginning of rolling out a new direction for Mura Masa, which has a much heavier focus on band and guitar music. Punk and new wave is the music I grew up playing so it feels like an exciting return for me. I’m thrilled to debut this new sound with one of indie music’s most exciting and talented songwriting newcomers in Clairo. To me,

Today Desert Hearts have announced the return of their City Hearts Festival concept to Downtown Los Angeles, where they’ll conjure the magic of their flagship desert festival within the urban locale over two days, November 9-10. The event will take over the iconic grounds of Father Serra Park—one of Downtown’s oldest and lushest parks, just steps away from Union Station.
City Hearts debuted in 2017, where the day-into-night affair transformed LA into a pocket of House, Techno, and Love filled with colorful people, performers, live art installations, and Desert Hearts’ signature festival production. The tradition continues in 2019, but will be expanded over two-days, with each packing in a robust slate of musical programming.
The Desert Hearts Crew of Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Porky welcome a wide range of world-class selectors and extended family to join them for the weekend. The lineup is topped by Turbo boss TIGA, UK stalwarts Patrick Topping and wAFF, and Hot Creations’ Nathan Barato. Top tier billing continues with Kate Simko, Andreas Henneberg, LA legend Doc Martin, and venerable Desert Hearts Records family members and Percomaniacs bosses Lubelski and Rybo.
Following the echoing launch of Desert Hearts Black this month, the brand will be on full display at … Read More
I was very high on Midnight Pool Party’s MOTIONS EP back when it dropped in May. Now the Australian duo have released 5 new remixes of the EP and Run the Trap readers are getting the first listen. RTT readers should already be familiar with Dugong Jr. and LEFTI, but don’t sleep on the remixes from Anoraak, Bohkeh, and Charlie Crown. The remixes compliment the breezy feel of the originals all while allowing each artist to add their own flavor. My personal favorite is the nudisco take from Anoraak on “Slide” but have a listen to the whole package below and drop a comment to let us know which one is your favorite.
