Release Spotlight

REZZ surprises fans with a somewhat unexpected yet surprising collaboration with masked French DJ Malaa. The two deliver us ‘Criminals,’ a perfect blend of REZZ’s dark bass work layered onto Malaa’s signature house sound. The record was released on Tchami’s Confession label.

Shöckface and fellow contemporary So Sus release their alien-tinged collaboration, ‘Tribe’ on Jayceeoh‘s imprint label Super 7 records. The record opens up with a beautiful yet haunting soundscape only to transform into a barrage of alien styled synths as the record prolongs. The record is wonky, experimental and explosive all in one.

Saka debuts his first record ‘Dragons Back’ on taste-maker label Phuture Collective. The solo record is gritty, energetic and filled with flow. An absolute must listen.

QUIX delivers us a new EP on Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak record label. The EP titled IDK Vol. 1 is filled with 4 classic QUIX sounding trap/bass crossover bangers.

After 153 Days, This Fan Finally Got To Chug A Bottle Of Water With Rezz

Hydration at shows is of paramount importance, and who knows this better than Nick Ochoa… who’s Nick Ochoa, you might ask? He’s the fan that has chugged a bottle of water every day for 153 days straight for the opportunity to chug a bottle on stage with his favorite artist, Rezz.

Rezz routinely asks her fans to chug water with her on Twitter, so Ochoa took it upon himself to make it a challenge: “Chugging a bottle of water until Rezz notices and agrees to chug a bottle of water with me.”

It didn’t take long, only six days, for Rezz to notice that he’d been chugging.

However, it took another 147 days from then for the two to actually come together and chug a bottle on stage. And while this may seem like a truly innocuous event, for fans of Rezz and those in her Cult, this was the culmination of a months-long affair with a brilliant ending.

See the wholesome moment below, and catch Rezz on her Beyond The Senses tour here.

Rage Against The Machine Reuniting, Confirmed First Coachella Headliner For 2020

Just one day after My Chemical Romance announced their first reunion show in seven years, Rage Against The Machine has announced a reunion tour after eight years with five shows planned in 2020.

The news came via a new Instagram account that has since been verified as legitimate. Forbes confirmed, Wayne Kamemoto, a longtime associate of the band just said, “The band’s social media is accurate.”

The band hasn’t played together since their 2011 L.A. Rising show at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Guitarist Tom Morello, drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford teamed with Public Enemy’s Chuck D and Cypress Hill’s B-Real for Prophets Of Rage in May 2016. Frontman Zack de la Rocha has also reportedly been working on some solo material, though the last time he released anything was also in 2016.

Two of the dates revealed will be at Coachella, confirming them as the first headliners revealed for 2020. It will be interesting to see how the landscape of the festival changes with a more punk-centric and divisive headliner.

See the post and all dates below. Tickets will be available here.

RL Grime Drops 2019 Halloween Mix With Guy Fieri

RL Grime Drops 2019 Halloween Mix With Guy Fieri

It’s the most~ wonderful time~ of the year~

No, it’s not Christmas. It’s Halloween and RL Grime just dropped his annual mix just moments ago. This year, the intro duty was given to none other than Guy Fieri — it’s hard to conceive how the two came into contact, or how Fieri even agreed to jump on the mix, but we’re definitely not complaining.

The one-hour mix goes through the usual variety of trap and hip hop, mixing in dark beats and sinister vibes along the way. YouTube impressionist and Vine star Jake Foushee also makes an appearance, as well as the granddaddy of them all, RL Stein.

Check out the mix below, tracklist coming soon. Also find tickets to see RL Grime live on tour here.

Nina Kraviz Responds to Accusations of Racism for Wearing Cornrows

Nina Kraviz Responds to Accusations of Racism for Wearing Cornrows

Nina Kraviz found herself in hot water after sharing a photo of herself sporting her hair in cornrows. Despite showing off a new look before a then-upcoming show, Kraviz was met with accusations of being a racist and committing cultural appropriation for wearing cornrows. She has since responded to the backlash in a series of tweets, some deleted, others not.

After sharing her new hair style on Twitter to hype up her performance in Miami’s Club Space, Nina Kraviz was met with various critical tweets accusing her of cultural appropriation. Some called for her to remove her cornrows, others called her a flat out racist, and some have even called for her to be “cancelled.” The recent critics also expanded their backlash to include the title of her track “Ghetto Kraviz,” a track released in 2011. Despite its possible link to the “ghetto house” sub-genre, many are citing this as further proof of cultural appropriation.

In response, Kraviz has cited that cornrows have been found in other cultures besides African culture, which is an all-too-common defense in situations like these that ignores the actual issues at hand. In her post, she mentions that cornrows have been worn by Native American, Asian, and European cultures.

Kraviz also pushed back to the backlash of her “Ghetto Kraviz” song title by referring

The original from Fisher has become a classic already in the relatively short time since its release, and now this remix is set to set a bar for anyone trying to put a dubstep spin on the tune. The remix gets a huge melodic influence along with the bass, much like Somnium Sound’s latest EP Genesis.

When you get SVDDEN DEATH and Somnium Sound on a track together, there’s a good chance the result is going to be absolutely wild — and that’s precisely the case here.
